Volunteer

VolunteersThe success of the Plant Exchange is really a reflection of all the wonderful volunteers who make this happen. A few people giving a couple of hours of their time makes all the difference. We need help to keep this going and growing.

Many of our volunteers have been involved since the beginning in 2007! They keep coming back because it is easy, fast and fun. (In other words, no one gets overworked.) Not to mention a great way to meet people and give back to the community. You will also get to enjoy our Volunteer Appreciation Party one week after each exchange.

If you can help out, please fill out the Volunteer Formemail us, or call 510-866-8482. Thanks so much for your support!

Volunteer Opportunities

Community Workdays

Join us for our Saturday workdays where we do things like: plant trees, build shelves, repot donations, build raised planter beds, etc. Our warehouse is on the grounds of Ability Now Bay Area which provides services to people with disabilities and our projects often serve both communities. For dates and times, email us or call 510-866-8482.

Before the exchange

In the weeks before the plant exchange we need help doing a variety of tasks. None of them take very long. Most only about 45 minutes.

  • Pick up of plant donations from local nurseries
  • Put up posters in store windows
  • Paint signs
  • Distribute flyers
  • Help with PR
  • Post online to event calendars
  • Contact service organizations
  • Repot early drop-off donations

At the exchange

We have various stations where you can help out. You can stay at one station for the entire shift or you can change and try something new. Learn More

Team Captain Opportunities
