The Alameda County Master Gardener Program works to serve the diverse communities within Alameda County. They volunteer their time to help people learn about gardening. As trained agents of the University of California, through the UC Cooperative Extension, their purpose is to extend research based knowledge and information on home gardening.

The California Native Plant Society (CNPS) is a statewide organization with thirty-five chapters. The East Bay Chapter covers Alameda and Contra Costa Counties.

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used building materials and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price.
